Episodes 2 & 3

Thought I would try to do a couple at a time. These episodes still aren't my favorites so my commentary will probably be short.

Episode 2-Head First

The opening segment is Arthur reading the newspaper. Carrie asks if he stole it from the neighbors. He said there is a rule about papers left out after 7:30 were fair game. Carrie said it was 7:15 and so Arthur just said he knew they were sound asleep. That was one of the better parts for me. Not super good but ok. After the theme, Sarah comes over to go with Carrie to a bachelorette party. Doug has plans with friends to hang out at the sports bar place. Arthur comes upstairs all dressed up in his suit ready to go out. They tell him they have other plans but Doug eventually feels guilty and lets him go with him and the guys. Arthur tells inappropriate stories about guys getting shot in the war and makes it miserable for Doug, Deacon, Ritchie, and Spence. They have to leave after Arthur gets a guy mad at the pool table. After Doug gets home, Carrie thanks him for letting Arthur go with them. She then thanks him more in bed. Doug decided that he liked that and he should be Arthur's best buddy to keep that kind of appreciation coming. There is a montage to "What A Wonderful World" with Doug and Arthur shopping, playing air hockey and doing other activities. When Doug gets tired of spending time with Arthur, he tries to hide in the garage with the guys playing cards. Arthur finds them and makes a nuisance of himself again by embarassing Spence by asking him why he lives with his mom. Doug gets fed up and has to tell Carrie that he wants Arthur to leave him alone. He also has to tell her why he had been spending all that time with Arthur. They then decide to try to tell Arthur but when Arthur asks why, Doug can't really say so they end up playing cards again. My favorite quote was from that game Arthur is dealing cards "The game is San Diego Scooby Doo. Three decks. We use all the jokers and instruction cards."

Episode 3-Fat City

It opens with Doug and Arthur walking back to their car. Doug unlocks the doors but Arthur keeps doing that thing where you try to open it to fast and it hasn't unlocked all the way. Doug has to get out to go open it for him. After that the show goes on and Arthur has old photo albums out. Doug gets stuck looking at them and sees a picture of Carrie's mom. She was big in the picture and Doug had only seen pictures of her before she had gained that much weight. Arthur comments that all the women in her family were thinner and then gained a lot. Doug gets scared that Carrie is going to get fat so he tries to make her go on a diet. He talks to Deacon at work about it and Deacon says to leave it alone. His wife Kelly had gained more weight on purpose after he had commented on her body. So he was relating the experience. Doug doesn't listen and he ends up telling Carrie she maybe should lose a few pounds. Which is really not true because she is a stick. That is the dumbest part of this episode. Carrie makes a big presentation about going on a diet while Doug is eating a big plate of pasta. He feels bad and decides he will only have fish and salad and try to stay on a diet. Carrie ends up feeling bad about herself and gets her wedding dress on. She is depressed because she can't zip it all the way up. Doug comes in and tries to make her feel better. He puts on one of her mom's old dresses to show her that even if Carrie did grow into it, she would still be skinny compared to him. The dress was a little big but they ended up feeling better and hugging. I didn't have a quote that stood out from this one.
